For guests who want more than a day

Sleep over with a family, not a stranger.

For travellers who want to go past a walk-through, we place you overnight with a vetted host family in Bwaise, Katwe or Kisenyi. You'll share a meal, a room, and an evening of real conversation — and your host is paid in full, directly, before you leave.

This is optional and opt-in

Homestays are only offered to guests who specifically ask for one. No one is placed in a home without a clear, separate booking and briefing beforehand.

What a stay looks like

An evening, not a performance

You arrive with your guide in the late afternoon, are introduced properly, and then the guide leaves — the rest of the evening is just you and your host family.

17:00

Pickup & arrival

We collect you from Antonio's Restaurant, Kampala Road, then your guide walks you in, introduces you properly to your host family, and confirms the emergency contact process before stepping away.

18:30

Dinner, cooked together

Most hosts invite guests to help prepare the evening meal — a good icebreaker, and often the best part of the night.

20:00

Evening as the family lives it

Conversation, radio or television, sometimes a neighbour or two dropping by — whatever an ordinary evening looks like in that home.

7:00

Breakfast & goodbyes

Tea, breakfast, and your guide returning mid-morning to collect you and close out payment to your hosts.

Trust & safety

How we choose host families

"Trusted family" is not a marketing line — every host goes through the same process before they're offered a single guest.

REFERRAL

Vetted through the community

Hosts are proposed by parish leaders or existing guides who know the household directly — we don't recruit strangers off the street.

VISIT

A home visit first

Our team inspects the sleeping space, sanitation and general safety of the home before it's approved, and re-checks annually.

CONTACT

A line that stays open

Every guest is given a phone number for their guide and a 24-hour emergency contact, and gets a check-in call partway through the evening.

What guests usually ask

What are the sleeping and bathroom facilities like?

Simple and honest: a real bed or mattress, shared or private depending on the household, and a shared latrine or basic bathroom rather than an en-suite. We describe your specific host's setup before you confirm.

Is it safe for solo travellers?

Yes — families are vetted specifically with solo guests in mind, and your guide does a scheduled check-in call during the evening.

Do I need to speak Luganda?

No. Most hosts speak conversational English; your guide can also stay reachable by phone to help translate if needed.

Can I bring a gift for my host family?

It's appreciated but never expected — the host fee is designed to be fair on its own. If you'd like to bring something, staple foods or school supplies are usually most welcome; ask your guide for a suggestion specific to your host.

What if I want to leave early?

Call the emergency line any time and your guide will collect you — no questions asked, and no partial refund penalty for genuine discomfort.
